About Carl Maskell

Having gained his City and Guild qualification as a Chef in West Sussex, Carl headed to the bright lights of London to start his career as a Chef in the Savoy Hotel within a brigade of 120 chefs in the early 90’s.

Following on from the Savoy, Carl wanted to perfect his Patisserie and moved to Harrods. During his time here the Pastry department was transformed from a brigade of 3 Pastry Chefs to a brigade of 50+ Pastry Chefs. The Patisserie department for the first time made everything in-house.

Having spent four years in London, Carl moved back to Sussex and worked for Marriott Goodwood Park and the Gatwick Hilton, both as Pastry Chef before moving back to London to start his career recruiting Chefs for Reed Hospitality in 1997.

During the time at Reed Hospitality, Carl gained a true understanding of how to recruit professionally and quickly gained promotion to Branch Manager looking after the Permanent Division for London.
In 2002, Carl was approached to join West One to be part of the Chef Division. It was here that Carl began to have stronger feelings of how recruitment should be done and followed his ethos of personalising recruitment to each individual needs and formed Just Chefs in 2005.

Since 2005 Just Chefs has gone from strength to strength working hard to find our clients the best Chefs , whilst also working for the leading players within the industry and understanding every need for each of our clients. For Carl, Recruitment is simple. Listen to your Clients and Candidates needs and deliver want they are looking for whilst being realistic and with this ethos Carl has been working with the same key personnel in the hospitality sector for over 10 years.
